The man standing here at Yitzhar checkpoint is a taxi driver who cannot go anywhere because both his ID and his driving licence have been confiscated -- in violation of Israeli military laws -- by a soldier. He does not know where the soldier has disappeared to. Later in the day, after Machsom Watch intervenes, he receives a 500 shekel fine (about $120) for a traffic violation, or more than a month’s salary, to be paid to the military regime.
