Bedouin man in the unrecognised village of Abda, in the southern Negev, in
March 2003. The village had just lost that year’s wheat crop, needed to
feed the villagers and their livestock, after the Israel Lands Authority
used aircraft to spray their fields with herbicide. The state claims they
are illegal squatters; the villagers point out that they were living on
the land decades before the creation of Israel |
