Today Saffuriya has the Hebraicised name of Zippori as well as new inhabitants: several dozen Jewish families, most from eastern Europe. Only one of the original buildings still stands and has been converted into a “rustic” guest house. In their brochure, Mitch and Suzy Pilcer describe the rooms as furnished “in keeping with the ancient traditions of Zippori”. There is no mention of the village’s Arab past. (April 2005)
