The historic mosque of Hittin, west of Tiberias, is almost all that remains of the original Palestinian village. Hittin was ethnically cleansed of its 1,200 inhabitants by Israeli forces on July 16 1948. The mosque, dramatically located by the Mount of Beatitudes, was built in the twelfth century.
